“I find a lot of pre-cancer on the ears,” says Howard Murad, M.D., a dermatologist in Los Angeles. “Generally a little more on the left side of the face than the right, because of sun exposure there when we’re driving.”
When I heard this, it BLEW MY MIND. More specifically, as a redheaded, sunscreen-coated former high school runner living in Southern California, it just never occurred to me to apply sunscreen to my ears! I mean, has this occurred to anyone else?!
Ever since, I’ve been living by these wise words from a friend:
“I don’t wear sunscreen all the time, but when I do, I make sure to get my ears.”
How very Dos Equis of her.
What are some other surprise areas that need sunscreen, that most people don’t think of?
