I wanted to post this in time for Mother’s Day, but better late than never! For all the moms who tan with me, you should know something about those self-proclaimed “embarrassing” scars you get from having a baby…from a non-mom’s point of view. I don’t know if I speak for all beauty professionals, but when I see a c-section scar or anything that identifies you as a mother, I’m envious!
In all honesty, here’s what’s going through my mind when I’m airbrushing a mother: I almost never notice the scar in the first place, because I’ve seen so many. Sometimes my clients will (*GASP*) APOLOGIZE (*SECOND GASP*) for their scars! When a scar or stretch mark is pointed out to me, all I can think about is that I can’t wait to have kids of my own, and sure I might not be sporting an itty-bitty little c-section scar…(yet!)…but you are, and it means that to someone YOU MEAN THE WORLD. There is at least one person out there who idolizes everything about you. Your opinion trumps it all. Moms are put on the highest of pedestals, and I see how the other members of Team Kona adore their mothers and mothers-in-law. They’re EVERYTHING! The whole world! FOREVER!
Me and My Mom
What’s the first thing that you hear a new millionaire does with their money? They buy their mom that sports car she always wanted, or that trip to Tahiti she had always been dreaming about. Moms are number one, numero uno, nummer eins – and are always treated like the VIPs that they are.
When my mom and mother-in-law visit me work, it definitely brings out the giggly little kid in me. It’s like I’m 10 years old all over again, at Back to School Night or something! I love to show them around, show them where I spend most of my time, and show off the projects and ideas I’m working on. I drop whatever I’m doing, and I’m not the only one; I see the big scary fighters of Wardance acting the same way. Big Will’s beautiful mother Deb stops by, and it’s like the Queen Mother herself is in the building! It’s adorable. Nothing beats the feeling of knowing your mom is proud of you, no matter how old you are, or how many Mixed Martial Arts knock-outs you might have on your record!
